Back-To-School Program
Volunteer Opportunities

Note:  Spanish speaking skills are needed in numerous volunteer positions for this program.
Please consider asking friends and relatives, who are bi-lingual, to volunteer!


REGISTRATION

Dates: Week One Tuesday, August 21st Thursday, August 23rd
  Week Two Tuesday, August 28th Thursday, August 30th
  Week Three Tuesday, September 4th Thursday, September 6th
  Week Four Tuesday, September 11th Thursday, September 13th
       
Times: 4:45 pm until 7:15pm    
       
Where:
 
Registration will take place in the foyer outside the Dome office.  Dome sanctuary will be
utilized as participant waiting area.
   
Volunteer Opportunities:
  - Greeting parents as they arrive and ensuring proper paperwork on hand
  - Keeping a tally
  - Working at the registration / appointment tables
  - Coordinating with registration tables
 

EVENT SET-UP AND BREAK-DOWN
 
Dates / Times: Set-Up Friday, August 24th 5:00 pm until done
  Breakdown Saturday, September 15th 2:00 - 4:00 pm
       
Where:
 
Clothing items, toiletry kits and books will be transferred from Dome storage areas to
designated classrooms in Life Center.
       
Volunteer Opportunities:
  - Strong backs required ... navigating narrow stairs ... lifting and moving of boxed items
  - No heavy lifting required ... setting up distribution classrooms with appropriate items ...
  setting up framework for draped-dressing rooms
  - Breakdown of distribution classrooms and return to storage areas
   


DISTRIBUTION SATURDAYS
       
Dates: Saturday, August 25th Saturday, September 8th Saturday, September 15th
       
Times: Shift #1     7:45 am until  11:00 am Shift #2     12:00 pm until 3:00 pm
  LUNCH    11:00 am until 12:00 pm Clean-Up Only     3:00 pm until 3:30 pm
       
Where: Designated areas / classrooms in Life Center ... main floor will be utilized as participant waiting area.
   
Volunteer Opportunities
  - Greeting families as they arrive and directing them to check-in
  - Checking-in families and tagging children / parents (numbered family labels to be worn throughout the program)
  - Escorting children to and from appropriate distribution areas
  - Assisting children in clothing areas (separate boys and girls) with proper fitting
  - Distributing toiletry kits to children
  - Distributing books to children
  - Monitoring exit doors to ensure numbered family tags match
